Default Obama wants to give the federal reserve more power!!!

Obama, Bernanke Talk Economy - WSJ.com

Quote:
Obama spokesman Michael Ortiz said the senator had "an informative meeting" with Mr. Bernanke about the health of the U.S. economy and the risks of further economic deterioration. Mr. Ortiz said Sen. Obama made clear his respect for the independence of the Federal Reserve system.

In March Sen. Obama proposed broadening government regulation of financial markets and expanding the power of the Federal Reserve to oversee investment banks in certain cases.

His plan would allow the Fed to set capital and liquidity requirements for securities firms that borrow money from the central bank. Currently, the Fed only has such power over commercial banks, but has had some oversight over securities firms after it started lending to them in March.
Welp, it's official. We're in trouble. Obama is definitely winning the election. First his visit to Israel and now THIS!? He's already chosen. Don't bother voting this election. We're screwed!

Nice selection we have to choose from in November
</sarcasm>

The story is different, but hardly surprising. Each and every election is the same. Two pro-corporate, pro-Israeli, pro-Federal Reserve, wealthy candidates who keep promising change for America, yet nothing ever gets done.

I don't know for sure who will win the election yet. Both are running
a close race right now. I'm betting obama will win though.

As for the banking industry, it looks like either the government is buying
out all these smaller banks or bigger banks are buying out the smaller one.

Eventually, they all will be tied to the government and then things will really
start getting hairy.

If Obama has the support of both Israel AND the fed, there is no question in my mind that he is winning. The actually campaign itself doesn't mean squat.

James, that picture is pure gold!

It doesn't matter who wins the election because both of
them will screw us over in the end.

They may be promising this and that now but once elected
it will be the hell with you.

I don't even know how mccain got to be in the government
to begin with. He sold his country out during the war by giving
up highly classified secrets and making 32 video's saying how
bad america was. He was treated very well as a p.o.w.

Obama started out pretty good but now it's like he turned his
back on the american people. He is basically for all the things
that bush is for right now.

We. not only need a new and better choice for president but we
need a new government as well.

It is my opinion that the whole government system is corrupt and
is in need of a major over-haul.

Both candidates wanted to take $700,000,000,000.00 from tax payers and donate it to Wall Street gamblers. Sadly, just keeping McNasty out of the White House won't be enough to prevent us from getting, um, stuck.

Great picture!

How deep was Obama involved with the Bailout? I know McCain wanted to take time off from campaigning to "fix this economic problem".

I'm not exactly sure. I know he went to Washington along with McCain to help out. Of course they both support the bill. I very happy that the bill got rejected though. Congress finally did something good. The bailout is bullshit. The only reason the market dropped 700 points yesterday was because of paranoia. Bush makes a speech today about fixing it and bang, it goes back up almost 500 points. It really shows how bullshit our system is. It is based on how people think the market is, not how good it actually is. If the media weren't condemning congress now and spreading fear about another depression, that drop would have never happened. Does anybody know what else factors into the Dow Jones number, besides people buying and sell stocks?

I know obama went to washington to help but according
to the news, he did nothing at all but sit there and listen.

I think obama is just being used as a patsy. From what i'm
hearing, obama was used to get hillary out of the campaign
and now that she is out, it doesn't matter how many votes
he gets because we all know how them voting machines work.

If bush doesn't set himself up as dictator then come election
day, a lot of obamas votes will be changed to mccain.

That wouldn't surprise me, but I think they have done some reform in ohio at least on the voting machines. I have a feeling that Obama will win, regardless of rigged votes. There's only so much rigging you can do. If enough people vote Obama he will still win. I do feel Obama is the lesser of 2 evils at the moment, but something about him makes me not trust him. I'd love to see a black president though, and I think that fact alone will improve race relations... as long as he doesn't get capped.

Vote for Cynthia McKinney then. She is black to and she
is for the people. She is for truth in the whitehouse.

I know she is running for prez really late in the campaign
so i don't know if her name will even be on the ballot.

Yep, I am definitely voting McKinney. She's been my pick for a couple months now. She cares more about the issues that actually matter to me, while both Obama and McCain completely ignore them. I'd love to see her win, but chances of that happening are slim to none. I have a feeling third party is going to do better than usual this election, but I could be wrong. Obama will probably draw in tons of people who didn't previously vote, so turnout should be high this year. Ron Paul official endorsed Chuck Baldwin on his site, and I'm surprised by this. I'm not the biggest fan of him.
