Default Weak minded people

I wasn't sure exactly what section to put this in as it's a rant, but also a question about what makes people so weak minded...

/rant mode on

I dunno what's going on. I had a bunch of friends (really acquaintances) from work over my house for a BBQ tonight. We were pretty much chillin on the deck, listening to music, eating burgers and drinking beer, when all of a sudden something REALLY SCARY happens. We hear thunder in the distance. <cue horror music> All of sudden everyone starts panicking and getting all paranoid and literally within 10 minutes everyone left. I was like "Are you serious!!?? You're leaving because it MIGHT rain?" And they're like "Yeah, I don't wanna have to drive in the rain!!" I ain't really complaining because they left like 20 something beers over my house, but still. That is some seriously weak minded wussyness. And here's the real kicker: It didn't even end up raining!!! People get paranoid and run home because of a possibility.. And even if it did rain, we could always chill in the house until it passed or whatever. Either these guys are lunatics or they seriously are petrified of driving in rain. I can't imagine what they're like in the winter when it snows, or even MIGHT snow. I'm sorry but each day that passes I lose more and more faith in the human race. This mentality of fearing weather, I just can't understand. I've driven in hurricanes and blizzards before. As long as you are careful and know how your car responds, it is really not that hard. Weak minded people everywhere. The true definitely of sheeple.

/rant over

:banghead:

What is causing people to be so weak minded? Is it TV? Is it the news and fear tactics within? I just don't understand, and the more I think about it, the better I feel about myself that I'm not living my life like that, in complete fear and submission. Eh, I dunno.

I do really think that the TV and the news is to blame with today's society. Over here in the UK when we have a bit of rain and wind, and its all over the news that we shouldn't go outside unless its an emergency, when tbh its no more a bit of drizzle and a gentle breeze

I'd have to say it has to do with just society in general. Sure, Corporations, TV, etc. may be influencing society, but in the end we are the ones still making the decisions to act the way we do.

An example that comes to mind for me is that American school test scores are at an all-time low. I don't have the source off-hand, but surely that must say something, right?

I don't want to change the topic but to answer your question,
it's because of the fluoride in the drinking water and food that
make people the way they are today. At least, it is one of the
reasons.

Fluoride was first used in natzi prison camps to make our war hero's
more passive and docile.

I'm sure this has a part in the problems we face today.
