Try doing a little research and see if you can find out who he was and how he died. You could probably tell how long ago he lived by his clothing. I'd be interested.

This happened in 1993 or 4 and was the very first time I actually had seen (with my own eyes) something like this. Before that, all I ever knew was stories from others and what they had seen/experienced.
This friend of mine, Roger, had lived in that house with his wife and 2 girls for about 8 years prior to this event when I saw this ghost. He had told me that he had seen a ghost of a man out at his place on several different occasions, but it never did anything malevolent. It was just there watching him, or walking across the field, or sometimes he said he would see it down in his sheep pasture kinda herding his sheep around.
When this happened, I really wasn't expecting to see anything like a ghost, because I really didn't actually totally believe in them (at that time), and I thought Roger might have been just trying to get a reaction out of me. So when I saw this "person" standing in the driveway, I just thought it was a neighbor, or maybe another one of Roger's friends who had come out to visit. When Roger described this man to me (exactly, even how tall, how old, what he was wearing, etc.) that's when I became a believer. And started looking at my surroundings a bit more closely too, so I guess I was a bit "scared" or more like interested after seeing it
As I said, his place out there was very old, and was homesteaded in the very early 1800's. The house they were living in there was over 80 years old, and other older houses had been there before that one, and either burned down or fell down, I don't know for sure. But Roger thinks the ghost was tied to the property somehow, as he always saw him
outside, and never in the house. This ghost was dressed in very old looking clothing, like overalls, or clothes similar to what loggers would wear.
That brings us to his wife, Tracy, who said she had seen the figure of a young girl about age 6 or 7 standing in the front window of the house while she and her daughters were all outside one day gardening. There was no one else there with them, so the house should have been empty.
After this experience, I had told other friends out that way about what I had seen. There were a few who had replied to me about another different place out that way called "The Molalla Mansion" that was supposedly haunted/or had ghosts too.
